Europe is known to be home to famous hiking places like the Camino de Santiago and the Tour du Mont Blanc. However, according to Time Out, a new list has revealed Europe’s most beautiful hidden trails that are perfect for travellers who want beautiful views without the crowds.
In a recent feature by Time Out, global travel provider Hellotickets has revealed some of the most underrated walking routes in Europe. On these places, many of them pass through remote forests, coastal cliffs, mountain ridges, and quiet villages. These trails not only offer beautiful landscapes but also a sense of peaceful adventure away from people.
From Alpine Peaks to the Adriatic Coast

On top of the list is the Alpe-Adria Trail. This path starts from Austria’s highest mountain, the Grossglockner, and it ends in the lush valleys of Slovenia before reaching the coastal charm of Italy. Covering 750 kilometres, as described by Hellotickets, this route offers a literal high note with dramatic shifts in scenery from snow-dusted alpine forests to sunlit Adriatic shores.
“Rather than busy paths, these trails are all about connection to nature, local culture, and yourself,” the travel provider shared through Time Out.
Another amazing route is Finland’s Åland Archipelago trail. It is a unique island-hopping route that stretches across 6,500 islands between Finland and Sweden. However, this place is ideal for cyclists. It has peaceful roads, colourful villages, and Baltic breezes, making it a calm yet lovely journey.
Europe’s other hidden gems
Senda del Oso, Spain. This is a 50 km trail through Asturias’ rugged countryside. It is originally a mining railway that has been turned into a cycling and walking path. Furthermore, this is one of the rare places that you can still find brown bears roaming around.
Mare a Mare Nord, Corsica. This route passes through the Mediterranean island from coast to coast. However, the trail ends through dense chestnut forests and stone villages over roughly 86 miles.
Hřebenovka Trail, Czechia. Located in the sandstone landscapes of Bohemian Switzerland National Park, this newly restored path has dramatic rock formations and quiet wooded passages.
High Tatras, Slovakia. These stunning mountains offer well-marked but often overlooked routes for those seeking mountain views and fewer tourists.
“These trails showcase the kind of slow travel that’s becoming increasingly popular post-pandemic,” said Hellotickets, quoted in Time Out. “They’re perfect for disconnecting from the digital world and reconnecting with the environment.”
With a new interest in nature and mindful exploration, these trails provide a new and interesting way to experience Europe. Nonetheless, you travel through Europe on foot, in peace, and surrounded by beautiful views.
